Jonas is a preschooler! I know it's been said several thousand times-but I now have an empathy for the mothers who "...can't believe their baby is going to school." It's true. I really have a hard time wrapping my head around where the past 4 1/2 years have went..
When Jonas put on his back pack, I had to smile.... I bought it for him when he 18 months olds....it was as big as he was! haha. "Oh this will be so cute when he goes to school!" About 6 months later, while exploring Height-Ashbury in San Fransisco...I collected lots of cool little buttons to pin all over it, "...for when he goes to school!!!"

Well that time has come, and wish it hadn't come so fast.

Interesting, that I used to anticipate all of Jonas' "next big steps" with a bit of impatience. And now...I want time to slow down...I want to keep him small and in my arms forever. Even though I struggle with accepting that I won't be able to do that...I find it comforting that I can (and will) keep both my children close for As Long As Possible. And I finally realize the only way I will be able to look back on all these moments that pass so rapidly -without a sense if 'loss'- is to do my best to make them count ...as often as I can.
Spending endless time and Creating memories are my best efforts...and my unconditional gifts to both of them.
...then we can be excited for and Enjoy each "next big step" Together.

Floater - live!

FLOATER is one of my all time favorite bands. i've listened to & LOVED them for 14 yrs. i went to their concert last night...so so fantastic. i've seen them live 8 er 9 times, and every show makes me happy. i seriously get so excited.

one of my best friends & i enjoyed VIP seats...and bathroom privileges! (yes, this is a highlight for me) thank goodness. i loath venue house bathrooms. the show was great. and as part of their encore (and final song) they covered Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus"...pretty rad.

note: rob wynia doesn't age. it's amazing. i'm mesmerized.

p.s. my husband gets 10 golden stars and a back rub for making last happen...and for his silly texts he was sending thru out the night. I love having a husband that can still makes me giggle. xoxo

so the next "ride opportunity" came a few weeks later, at the zoo. anxious to make up for all the other 60 second adventures he's missed... I let him ride the Merry Go Round ...then, and every trip to the zoo since.

Neighborhood Night Out

Does your subdivision celebrate this national event every year?...it's actually pretty fun. This year we had a great bbq at the pool. Everyone brought super-good dishes to share! It was neat to have the Mayor and Chief Police come by too! The kids swam and played in a huge jump house :) We also had raffle drawings for the children and the adults. At the end of the evening, a couple firemen came over in their fire truck. They got out and all the kids were able to climb in, out and all around the fire engine! We really enjoyed the whole evening :)

this is a miracle masque.

This Past weekend we took the kids out to the Lavender Festival.

Adam noticed the event listed in the Boise Weekly. That, and the Skinny Dip World Record attempt that would be taking place the same day. It was a toss up... but we decided to go with the

lavender lemonade & lavender ice cream!

There was a peaceful area set up with massage tables....
I enjoyed a little relaxation while Adam went exploring a cave of trees with Jonas & Berlin.

Crooked River

On the 4th of July Adam & I hiked along the Crooked River with some of the guys in his family.
We hiked in about 5 miles...soaked up a lot of gorgeous scenery and enjoyed the cool river water.

This is the Bridge that Adam's dad helped build!

Almost 3 years ago, we took Jonas and HIKED TO GRANPA'S BRIDGE Shortly after the bridge was finished!

I was coming down with the flu. I think, I don't know what is was...but I felt horrible! I almost didn't go cause of my aching body. But decided to
"sweat it out"..."man up"... and... "get it done!"
So glad I did, it was a great time.
...and 5miles back out ;)

One of my best friends, Nicole, has been telling about this book for months. "It's SO good! I'll let you borrow it." ...was also something she's been telling me for months! Haha! So for my birthday, she handed me a brand new copy and said, "Yaaa, pretty much I'm never going to part with my copy...so here ya go." :D

I was finally going to read her recommendation! And I was excited to be able to participate in her enthusiasm over the book's inspiration.

Then I saw the Author.

I immediately referenced a silly stigma tied to the author's name... "Cheesy Teenage Mormon Quick Reads." I know, I am such a brat. It's just that, at the time'n'age in one's life that they would be reading Bytheway's infamous novels ... mmm ...well, let's just say, I wasn't pickin' up, what he was puttin' down. Not at all. My progressive strides had nothing of a spiritual concern. #iwassuchapleasentteenager. #sorrydad.

Irritated by my own ignorance, I put the thought behind me and looked forward to the next quiet moment when I could open the book and begin.

Well I began it last week and I am really really enjoying it. I did, however, begin to wonder if I would be "getting more out of it" if I were actually in the midst of tragedy... But then got to thinking that: just as we have been counseled to build our temporal storage (ie food storage) we should be cultivating our spiritual-food storage as well.

So I am reading, pondering, internalizing and storing.

I don't have much time to write now, but I wanted to at least post some pictures of Jonas on his big day! I love him so much! He is such an amazing kid. The past three years have honestly, been the best of my life. I hope I am making life as happy for him as he has for me. I am also so thankful for Adam, who is an incredible Daddy. I'm not kidding, his patience and understanding with Jonas makes me love him EVEN more.

I can't believe he is three so soon and that he is almost a Big Brother.

I am so thankful it's Spring. Everything feels, smells, seems and just is BETTER when the sun is out. I saw these little grass planters at Target the other day and thought it would be a fun do this with Jonas. He had fun AND enjoyed tasting the dirt, too. Of course :)

This weekend was so nice! I loved that we were able to take the time to celebrate my husband's birthday... We put aside all the stress and anxiety, and focused JUSTon him. Especially last night when we were able to celebrate with a bunch of friends. The night was perfect! Gorgeous weather, yummy treats and kids galore! We are so thankful and blessed to have so many great friends and family in our life.

I LOVE JONAS' HAIR...i really, really do. But we thought that it was getting a little outta control. So we decided to forgo the cute surfer look and give him a clearer view of the world around him :)

Adam and I took turns with the razor AND took turns with the scissors. mmm...Not a good idea.

Mom and Dad aren't alound to cut his hair any more. lol.
It was so funny. One side still curled over his ear and the other side was so short and choppy!
He made it look cute though. :)
So we took him to my friend Nicole Lee and she got him lookin' tight 'n right! -for the first time EVER!

Oh I love it! He seriously looks like a whole new kid. And I think he likes the hair out of his eyes. I can tell a difference in him when he's playing and doing things...it seems easier for him now. I dunno if I'm making that up, but he really seems to like it.

My Sweet Baby Shower

Oh wow, my baby shower was INcredible! I am happy so many ladies came to play! I was so emotional (surprise) as I looked around and saw all my beautiful family & friends together. I was surrounded by such an amazing amount of love & support from many special people. It was SO much fun...and not to mention - SO BEAUTIFUL! I can't thank my friends who planned, decorated and hosted this important day, enough. I wish I could. I wish I could afford to send each one of them to an entire day at the spa, so they could feel just as pampered and special as I did!

The food and the treats were insane! Everything looked and tasted incredible. The photographs were fresh and beautiful. I am so happy every time I think about that afternoon!

And everyone brought such thoughtful gifts! So much pink, so many dresses, bows and blankets...ahhh, it was so cute! I appreciate all the help getting prepared for this little girl. Thank you cards are on their way out tomorrow - I want each one of you to know how much I love you and how thankful Adam and I are.

Well I think by now, everyone knows that we are having a little girl and I am so incredibly excited! I am anticipating my doctor appt tomorrow morning :) it is my 1 month mark on the countdown. I feel so happy, excited and definitely anxious.

Today I made a quick trip to BabysRUS to get some things that I felt I needed right now to subside this ever growing anxiety...I was so emotional walking through the store. Thank goodness at least half the customers there are on the same hormonal roller coaster...and were probably too emotional themselves to notice my teary pacifier selection. lol.

I also wanted to share some maternity photos that my sister took of me a month ago er so. She was awesome, patient and creative. I cannot, however, say the same for myself. I was ornery, uncomfortable and obnoxious! I do feel bad for behaving worse than the 2-3yr olds she works with, lol- BUT I am so thankful to have these sweet photos. She is so talented. We went to Utah for Thanksgiving this year!!! I was SO happy to be there!

Last weekend my family got together in honor of my Grandmother's 80th birthday celebration! It was a huge surprise for her...family came into town from all over to see her. All of her kids (my aunts, uncles and Dad) spent so much time preparing a perfect weekend for their Mother. They did such a great job. FRIDAY-The first surprise was chocolate fondue at the Melting Pot!!! My Grandma and Grandpa were able to enjoy a quite evening with just their 5 children and their spouses. I was lucky enough to take care of them..it was nice to see all the adults together enjoying each others company. SATURDAY- Grandma and Grandpa were picked up in a limousine and taken for a drive. At some point during the drive, she was taken up Harrison Blvd- where she grew up! She said she enjoyed the memories. They arrived at the hotel where the WHOLE family was waiting for her to walk the Red Carpet! The smile on her face was beautiful. We had dinner and cake...played 'Deal or No Deal' and watched a slide show of pictures while we were asked questions about Grandma and her life. I like watching her as she studied each of the pictures going by and listen ing to what she had to say. (She really is an amazing lady.) SUNDAY- We all met for church and then headed to their house to take family pictures. It has been about 13 yrs or so since the last photos were taken! Nicole did a great job! It was SO MUCH FUN getting everyone together and celebrating another birthday for GRAMMA FAHNESTOCK! WE ALL LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

when i first read this, i only made it to the 2nd one before i made Adam listen to me read the rest of them aloud. i was laughing so hard! Adam...not so much. not at all, actually. am i delirious?... are these are way too lame to be funny?! i hope not, because i have already committed to trying most of them out. (except the opera one, pretty sure i won't be attending one of those...any time soon.)

Help Maintain A Healthy Level Of Insanity

1. at lunch time, sit in your car with sunglasses on. point a hairdryer at people driving by. see if they slow down.
2. page yourself over the intercom. don't even try to disguise your voice.
3. every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.

4. put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks . once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.
5. skip down the hall rather than walk. hum if you want.
6. order a diet water next time you go out to eat, with a serious face.

7. specify that your drive-through order Is 'to go'.
8. in an elevator, stand with your back to the door. smile at everyone.
9. sing along at the opera.

10. five days in advance, tell your friend you can't attend their party because you have a headache.
11. when the money comes out of the ATM, look around screaming, "i won! i won!"
12. run from the zoo yelling, "run for your lives! they're loose!"
13. tell your children over dinner, "due to the Economy, we are going to have to let one of you go."

so i had the lil man ALL to myself today. i love days like this...sigh. jonas is at the age where he is so interactive and SO MUCH FUN. he wants to check everything out and then just psycho-babble non stop! perfect! i am EXACTLY the same.

today we just played, walked, screamed, giggled and ran around the mall. he always gets a parmesan bread stick from Mrs. Powells...and today HE got to pay. it was so cute. he told the cashier 'wove you' and then 'bah-bye' 500 times. he also got to ditch the stroller today! he kept pleading with me... "walk? walk, WALK? WALK! ...walk?" why not?. he's big enough and i knew he'd have a blast with all that freedom...man, THAT was more than i bargained for. =) at one point i looked over my shoulder to reset my 'mom-radar' and saw his little body headed UP THE ESCALATOR!-with the biggest grin on his face. i left the stroller and ran up the moving stairs and he must have thought my incredible speed was the funniest thing, cause he just squealed with a fit of giggles watching me. then the fun part. running BACK DOWN the rising staircase WITH jonas in my arms! after i executed my dismount, i set him down then looked over at him while adjusting my clothes...and just busted up laughing with him. MAN!-i've got one seriously awesome kid...

(to him, there doesn't seem to be a point to walking...what a weirdo.)

WOW what a LONG Valentine's weekend! i spent the WHOLE weekend at the Melting Pot. Adam was such a trooper. he's not the overly-super-duper sentimental type...so me bailing on the romance this weekend wasn't a big deal. i just felt bad because j rock was sick, then he got sick and i was busy working from 3&4 in the afternoon util 2&3 in the morning (fri, sat & sun)! so he got the Vday v.i.p. award this year! thanks babe, i love you. thank you for putting up with my grumpiness too...i was SO exhausted.

GOOD NEWS though, i became a 'cash money millionaire' over the weekend...so i'll spoil you rotten.

these 3 days at the Melting Pot were LONG, but pretty fun. and totally entertaining at times.

i saw a few proposals. one of which was a table of mine on Sunday...omg!-i even started crying while i was talking with them. they were so great.

i was taking care of the coolest couple and about two courses later, i found out they were the couple renting from and living next to adam's parents!! lol. small world! she had even met jonas just a few weeks ago when he was staying with adam's parents while we were in vegas. they were so fun to talk to, i just pulled up a chair up and hung out with them for a while. i am stoked to go knock on their door next time we're in Idaho City!

i met so many sweet SWEET couples this weekend.
and some pretty entertaining ones as well. =)

i watched a young 'alternative' couple reading Tarot cards...over a nice fondue dinner...
no big deal.

one couple came in all decked out, ready for a night of romance...and partying, i guess, cuz a few hrs later, the dude passed out (sitting up, btw) while his girl was in the restroom. THEN when he tried to make it to the restroom, he threw up ALL OVER himself!!! WOW, nice moves.
are you kidding me?!?

there was a real life 'bad guy' eating there with his friends. i'm serious. i'm talkin' like in-the-news, legit 'bad guy'!

i really had fun with everyone i work with...they are all STELLAR!

the owners of The Pot hired a masseuse on Vday to massage the servers AND ordered tons of sushi (YUM!!!) & Guido's pizza for everyone! how awesome, hunh?!

so FINALLY i had a day to spend with my boys. we all napped alot...which was great. we ALL needed it. i thought i'd give adam a lil break and so i took jonas out on the greenbelt and to play at the park. i just love my little man.

yah...so jonas and i made it home and we walk in the door to a freshly cleaned home. adam cleaned, vaccuumed and mopped while we were out!!! are you kidding me?! how did i get so lucky...what a great guy! amazing. thank you babe.

i am totally gonna spoil you 'times two' now...xoxo

more marvelous misadventures with J-Rock

so this past week i was missin' my family pretty bad...so i packed up sunday night and the next morning, jonas & i took off to utah! i also thought this would be a great chance for adam to focus on work...(gym, movie night w the guys, tv, gym, sleep, pizza and of course all things ESPN.) lol.

the drive was sweet...jonas was pretty much awake the whole time and was PERFECTLY CONTENT. he is border-line obsessed with Madagascar, CAT in the HAT and Ratatouille. so with the dvd player rollin...so were we. THEN...i started to hear some gargling. just i turned around, he puked EVERYWHERE! i pulled over on the snowy highway, to clean up the soy milk with a side of goldfish...(2 yr molars: no fun) but, we got to play in the snow for awhile and watch "big trucks!!!" =)

back on the road. we made it to my dad's in Sandy without another glitche... wait. no. total lie. i had a pretty ridiculious fiasco of my own...enough said. =)

we had a great night with my dad & jaque. i really miss having my dad around. i am sorry i took him 'being around' for granted when he lived here...and i got to see my bro in the morning! then we took off for Logan to see ma sista and her family. i had soooo much fun. and jonas was in heaven with TWO playmates around the clock. they were all so CUTE together. i missed them all so much. my bro in law watched the kids so my sis and i go go to dinner with her friends. they were great girls. i am glad i was able to meet them.

we did a lil shoppin and lunch and THEN...our first professional pics! nicole has her own photography business now (take a look at her blogs and website) and we finally got to take advantage of that! yahoo! and we have never had j rock photographed. (boo!bad parents) it was awesome...the shots turned out perfect. and i got to take sr pics...all over again...heehee. anyway, it was fun and i will post the final pics when they are finished. they are going to San Diego for a week...so i will have to be patient. BUT she did give me a few 'sneak peaks'. thanks again ma sista, you are the best! thanks for putting up with us...we were probably the most ridiculous 'house guests' EVER... (re-cap)

we headed back thurs morn. again, another peaceful drive. we stopped Bliss so i could let jonas run around. oh and he did...he was let loose in a mini mart. he took off up an down every aisle at least 2 times. it was so cute to watch, i just laughed and ran with him. you know, it is really liberating tearing through a public place at your 2 yr old's side...like total maniacs!!! UNTIL the little manic stops dead in his tracks in front of the fresh fruit...leans over...and ralphs a puddle of soy milk and not-so-fresh fruit snacks!! he looked up at me : grinned, points and proudly declared, "mess. MESS." and took off running again. i love him so much. his giggling makes frustrating situations, well...super funny!

we finally made it home. safe and sound.

jonas missed his "da-da"and i missed adam too.

...i wrapped tired arms around my sweet man...and asked for a back rub...

Jonas has a little beta fish ...named Norris! (yes. named after the 'roundhouse kick' champ...Chuck Norris.) He is sooo cute with his new friend... Always remembering to say "na nite norrris" before bed...and letting mom & dad know when Norris is hungry "eat. EAT!"

Jonas & I cleaned Norris' bowl today...a successful 1st time!! Jonas loved having his fish in the little bowl right next to him...making it much easier to chase Norris around in the water with his big hand!!! Jonas was smiling and giggling the whole time...

So...I am baby hungry. ...pretty bad. =) With Loni, Heather and Jen having their cute little babies....and Bergen & Jess pregnant with their babes!!!... Oh man! I SO want another sweet baby. I am beyond excited for Jonas to have a brother &/or sister. He is so stinkin cute with babies...it melts me. I really teased my hunger today by looking through all our photographs from Jonas' 1st year. GOSH..he was the best baby! Adam & I are blessed. I am so thankful to be Jonas' mother...and everything that entails.

He is so amazing to me...just perfect.

I am so sad that summer is over... We had a memorable spring & summer this year. So much has happened and changed in our lives. Jonas was so CUTE at the zoo! He knew what most of the animals were and 'made their sounds' as he studied each of them. He really liked the monkeys, lions and the bear. It is so amazing to me how big and smart he is getting... I am so lucky to be a mommy, it's the most amazing blessing ever.

A week or so ago my mom and step dad,Vince, came into town to spend some time with mine and my sister's family. What a great visit! It was nice to see my mom and catch up on what has been going on in her life. She seems very content and I am glad to hear it. I was also happy to be able to share my new little family with her. I am thankful that my Gramma Helen was apart of our reunion, because she is someone very special to me. I only wish Nana could have been there...I would love to be able to hug her and tell her everything is ok. But, I bet she has her eyes on all of us now and knows...

So there were quite a few birthdays for us to celebrate the last few weeks...all including: my sis Nicole, my bro in law Brandon and their son Chayse, my bro Mathew, Scott & Chrissy Lee and Justin Serra...am I missing anyone?! I am bummed that I missed all the birthdays at my sister's house, but they are coming into town this weekend so I get to see them then! Love you guys!

Last weekend Chrissy had her 25th birthday party. It was a good time...friends, family, pizza, football, tons of cake & pies and of course ROCK BAND!!...Rock band TWO non the less! The new addition came out at midnight the evening of her party... so let's just say, "Phase 2" of the birthday bash started at around 1 in the morning and went till 4am!! Ridiculous...ridiculously awesome! So fun...

The morning after the show, Adam and Scott flew to Wisconsin to pick up Scott's new truck. They had an epic, cross-country adventure...during which, both land and emotion were explored...

Chrissy and my Dad stayed with boys during the concert. I missed her, but understood her decision to stay behind...especially after pointing out, "Kimber...that's like asking you to go to a Carrie Underwood show with me...it's just not my thing!" That made me laugh. So I tried not to keep bugging her to go...kinda =). Last minute, my brother picked up the spare ticket, much to my Dad's dismay. lol . I am so glad he was able to go with us.

We had such a great time, thanks guys!

A while back, I was taking care of a young couple at the Melting Pot... While I was tableside, making their cheese fondue, the girl asked me if we named our son after the 'Jonas Brothers'...I looked at her trying to figure out what she meant..."No, who are they?" She then informed me that they were a teenage band...sponsored by Disney. ....hmmmmm...wow! Those of you who know me, know that it only took 2.5 seconds for my blood to begin to boil...
'did we name our son after Disney-trademarked, teeny-bopper "musicians" ?!?!' She had no idea how badly I wanted to fling hot cheese at her!....especially when she went on to say... "You know, they're totally friends with Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus!" ahhhhh!!!! I imagined an 'accidental' water glass spill...to accompany the flying cheese bomb...and counted to 10. Then in my most polite, tone of disgust, "Ummm....no, we didn't name our son after any Disney characters. Enjoy your cheese fondue."

I am sure that some of you may have thought my reaction a bit on the dramatic edge...and I would agree, if it weren't for 2 reasons:

1...the key fact the I am a HUGE music snob...and that Adam partners me on this most serious matter.
and 2...in the months following that deadful question, I am pretty sure those 3 'boppers' have been trying to take over the world. I see their silly faces everywhere...with my son's name printed over them!

With all that been said...

I boycott the SANOJ brothers!!!

Our Visit

So Adam & I were able to visit Lakai, Chrissy & Scott this weekend. The Lamm's and Griffin's were going to head down too, but stayed to help with Scott & Chrissy's move into their new home. =)

It was so good to see Lakai, he is doing great. He was pretty out of it because of all the pain medication. Modern medical advances are outrageous...although I could barely stomach what I was able to see under the bandages...the doctors said the skin grafting surgery went great. They will better know an estimated healing time on Wednesday. Before we left, Lakai was very interactive and in better spirits. The morning after we got home, I talked to Chrissy and she said he was laughing and smiling...FINALLY! What a great kid! And he is lucky to have parents like Scott & Chrissy...they are taking such good care of him. It put a smile on my face to see how they have grown closer through all of this. They were so affectionate and caring towards one another. Those two continue to be such a great example to us. Love you guys. I am so excited for Lakai's recovery and for you all to come home!

While we were in Utah, we stayed at my Dad's. We stole Scott & Chrissy away from the hospital to try and take their minds off things for a few hours. Chrissy's brother and girlfriend met up with us at my Dad's. We watched the UFC fights, played ping-pong, fooz ball (sp?) and darts. Thanks again, Dad! We totally had fun.

The next morning my Dad and Adam played with guns and talked about boy stuff. So I amused myself by acting tough and taking pictures...
